Back to work

Hello!
I'm back at the FSJ library. Can you not tell by the excitment in my voice? I woke up thursday morning in beautiful sunny Tofino and like that I was back in FSJ by dusk. Weird some times that this is on a voluntary basis.
My family and I had a chance to vacation in Tofino last week even with the water shortage. It was a ghosttown.
Less people to witness me as the only "surfer" on the island frolicking without a wet suit. It was a guttsy performance. Ashley, I did it for you. One rather professional looking surfr guy with head to toe gear (including the ducky looking gloves)asked "are you not cold?" "Yes, yes I am cold." It's like minus 40 in here and I do not know if my toes are ok.
Rico bought everyone a kite. Those $2 plastic kites...what a riot. We were the only ones flying kites. What an Alonzo family moment. I had Mickey Mouse. Mickey ran a muck dive bombing Dexter and kicking the crap out of Batman (Aaron you're brutal) Mickey wrapped around Batman's line and took him down! Batman flew 200 yards down wind before falling to his death. He did not make a come-back. Nemo (Ashley and Olivia)was low key under the intimdating presence of Mighty Mickey. Pooh (Rico) was flying under the influence and in no condition to compete with Mickey.
Kayaking in Tofino needs to be on everyone's top 10 things to do before you die.
It was brilliant. Words can't do it justice (especially the ones in my vocabulary)
So instead i offer you random facts:
1. The kelp that you find on the shores of long beach (the deadly whips) are the fastest growing plant in the world. They grown a foot a day. Their target length is 100 feet within the 4 summer months. They are annual plants, only around for summer. The leafs from the balb are edible but the balb and whip aren't beacuse they are loaded with carbonmonoxide. Kinda cool info for people who have spent years whipping twin brothers with them.
2. In one little patch (1 inch by 1 inch) of sea otter fur are more pours than on a human head. The sea otter was down to 1000 individuals in the world at one point and have since made a come back. They were re-introduced to BC's and California coast lines and are doing well.
3. The water is f-ing cold in the

Sounds like a great family adventure Lauren! I wish I could witness your defensive shuffles at the Alumni game! Glad things are going good, talk to you soon! love ya
The defensive shuffle compelled me also to write. I so wish I could be feeding you the long bombs, because you know run and gun is the the way to go when your old and too lazy to run an offense. I am playing ball here in Japan, but it just makes me miss our team all the more, we had a great run didn't we!
I'm so glad your out and having such great adventures, I'm super proud of you. awwww, I could rave on more about the Tomahawk but I'm already over my limit for sappiness. Love you Lauren!
Oh Chiefer...how I miss you, let my count the ways ;) It takes a strong individual to take part in the kind of adventure that you are...seriously, I am impressed. Whether you come home in 2 weeks or 8 months, I am proud of you for doing this! (I would never last...kinda like the whole duck farm job thing ;) Well what can I say, life just aint the same without ya. I have a $50 SB's giftcard burning a hole in my pocket and I know that you and I could take care of that in one sitting probably...but instead, I will go alone and reminis (I have no idea how to spell this, Ashley will probably point that out ;) of all the good coffees that we shared together. Maybe we can go for coffee at the same time, in our different parts, and then call each other and it will almost be the same....hehe, maybe?
Well my friend, I love you and miss you. This talk of the alumni game is getting me excited...are you seriously going to come?! Don't tease me with your big talk and then not be able to make it. I need to get my a$$ in gear and go for a run or two and maybe work on my pass into the post (you) and my wicked jumper...cause we all know I would waaaay rather play offense than defense. Until next time, peace.
James
